New nurse
In mid-April this year we welcomed a new veterinary nurse, Rhi, to our team. Rhi's first day on the job was just a couple of weeks after the Covid-19 Level 4 lockdown had been announced, and so she started her time at ECB Vets as a part of Bubble 2, donning full protective gear while training on the job. Now that things have mostly returned to normal, many of you have probably had the chance to meet Rhi in the clinic. Rhi completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2018 and worked full time as a nurse at another Auckland practice before accepting the job offer here with us. She lives in Avondale with friends and although she doesn't have any pets of her own yet, she and her flatmates love to foster cats and help them find their furever homes. Next time you're in the clinic say hi to Rhi - she'd love to get to know you and your fur babies!

Lockdown thank you
We would like to thank our clients for their commitment and consideration over the last few months during and after the COVID-19 lockdown. It was a strange time for many and our team really appreciates the kind comments and understanding most clients showed when we had to adapt our protocols to ensure everyone's safety. We are lucky to have such a lovely client base and are glad we were able to continue to look after you and your pets.

Lauren's fundraising
Many of you have probably met our lovely nurse Lauren at some point during your time at ECB Vets - she has a special interest in rabbits and can often be found tending to our bunny patients every need on her rostered hospital days, as well as providing plenty love and cuddles to all our cat and dog patients too. In 2015, Lauren was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which has greatly impacted her life since. MS is a progressive neurological condition that causes Lauren to live with constant pain, spasms, chronic fatigue and loss of feeling/altered sensation over her whole body. Lauren's family are fundraising to get her to Moscow for HSCT treatment, which isn't available in New Zealand. Lauren is an amazing veterinary nurse and a greatly loved member of our team so we have decided to help raise as much money as possible. On Saturday 5th September we are hosting a 90's themed Quiz Night at 7pm at Rosedale Soccer Club. There will be a cash bar, prize for best dressed, games, raffles and auctions. We fully sold out of tickets for tables in a week and managed to rustle up five more tables which are now also sold out! However, if you, your business or someone you know can sponsor a table for $200 or donate items for raffle/auction, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some of our staff are also participating in the Tough Gal Challenge on 20th September to raise more money. We have three teams of three who are looking for sponsors - if you would like to make a donation next time you are at the clinic let the receptionist know or if you would like to donate via direct debit into our fundraising account our account number is 01 0277 0009390 00 - use the reference "Toughgal". We can't wait to see some of you at the Quiz Night and thank you to everyone who has bought tickets/donated/sponsored already - the support has been amazing and it's going to be a fantastic night!
